SAVAGE REPUBLIC REUNION A ONE TIME EVENT, TO PROMOTE
REISSUE OF COMPLETE STUDIO RECORDINGS
A spokesperson for the band said "This is a one time event. At
this point the band has no plans to reform". The band agreed to do
this one time reunion to promote the recent reissue on San
Francisco label Mobilization Recordings of the bands entire studio
works. This reissue features stunning hand letterpressed covers by
Savage Republic member Bruce Licher of Independent Project Press.
This performance will be the bands first appearance in over 13
years, since their explosive Final Performance in Claremont,
California on Feb. 25, 1989.

DVD OF FINAL PERFORMANCE DUE OUT IN OCTOBER, 2002
A DVD and digital audio recording of that last performance of Savage Republic
is scheduled for release on Mobilization Recordings in 2003.

SIMILAR SOUND TO SONIC YOUTH and GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR. JANE'S ADDICTION, R.E.M FANS OF THE BAND.
Savage Republic were the west coast counter-parts to New York's SONIC
YOUTH back in the early 80s, and in the 1990s JANE'S ADDICTION and
Canada's GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR borrowed generously from the
bands unique musical approach. REM and 54-40 are also big fans of the
band. Members of Jane's Addiction borrowed from SAVAGE REPUBLIC's sound, and R.E.M. have also been long time fans of the bands unique sound.

SAVAGE REPUBLIC FEATURED IN "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS" SOUNDTRACK
The song "Real Men" from the bands classic debut LP "Tragic Figures"
was featured in the feature film "Silence of the Lambs", playing
inside the "pit" as the killer watched his effeminate image in the
mirror.

SHOW FOLLOWS BAND MEMBERS NARROW ESCAPE FROM WTC ON 9/11
The reunion was agreed upon a few months after
guitarist/percussionist Ethan Port
escaped the WTC #3 on the morning of 9/11. He'd been staying in the
Marriott WTC that morning. "I was just dressing for work when the
first plane hit above my head. I ran out into the street immediately,
leaving behind my shoes and glasses and all my other possession,
including any ID or money. A few weeks later as SONIC YOUTH was
completing their MURRAY STREET CD, Ethan Port's incinerated
possessions were being excavated from "the Pit" that used to be the
WTC.

SUPPORTING ACTS AT THE LOS ANGELES REUNION ARE LONG TIME CONSPIRITORS
Bruce Licher, a founding member of SAVAGE REPUBLIC, performed with

tunnels and parking garages, for a pure industrial "new wave" sound.
Long time friend MIKE WATT will also perform with a new Bass, Organ and Drum trio "The Secondmen". MIKE WATT's former band THE MINUTEMEN often performed with these other acts at many Los Angeles alternative/art punk dives
such as Al's Bar, the original Anti-Club and Brave Dog, Theoreticals,
Desolation Center Mojave Desert shows, etc.
